SYNOPSIS
In the early hours of 15 October 2016, a fight breaks out in a bar in Altasu (Navarra); an off-duty officer of the Guardia Civil is taken by ambulance to the hospital. Doctors confirm that he has a broken ankle. The night ends with two people being arrested and released two days later. The Guardia Civil takes over the case and the news spreads quickly. Altsasu appears in the media as a hostile municipality divided into two camps, where one part of the population is dominating the other.
In a spectacular media operation, eight young people were arrested and seven of them were imprisoned 400 kilometers from their homes. They are placed in provisional detention under a strict regime reserved for those charged with terrorism, which includes total isolation for 22 hours a day and the interception of all their communications. The prosecutor is asking for a total of 375 years in prison on terrorism charges. They will be tried by a special court, the Audiencia Nacional.
The incident has shaken up the lives of the eight young men and their families, who must learn to live under the pressure and threat of a life sentence in prison.
